Until I started raiding, I never gave a lot of consideration to my UI or my add-ons. I had Outfitter, Auctioneer and Cartographer. But that was pretty much it. When I got invited into my first raid I got Deadly Boss Mods and away I went.
Healing two 25-man raids later after having to drag all the names out from the raid screen, position and reposition and click wildly during the boss fights, and I gratefully took a fellow raider’s advice and downloaded Healbot. At first, Healbot was an absolute revelation. But as time wears on, I feel like I’m not getting the best use out of my current UI. Sometimes Healbot and DBM have epic battles mid-boss fight where the only loser is the poor person whose name happens to be covered in green writing. So I know I can find a better way. I have some time on my hands over the next few days, so I’m hoping to tweak it.
I saw great discussions of healer UIs over at Restokin as well as No Stock UI, where Matticus has strong anti-Healbot feelings. There was also the unpleasant side of cluttered UIs gone horribly wrong over at One Track Blog (which I got helpfully pointed to by the aforementioned Restokin.)
So now as I ponder how to proceed, I ask you, my tiny number of readers:
What’s your favorite UI set-up for healing in raids? Anything I should keep in mind as I play around with my current set-up? Any add-ons you don’t like to leave home without?
